Sue’s Biography

  • Sue graduated from the Newcastle University  1980 with a BA dip Ed
  • She spent 10 years teaching as an English History teacher in Newcastle
  • In 1998 Graduated from the Newcastle College of Herbal  Medicine as a Medical herbalist, Nutritionist and Iridologist.
  • Sue moved to the north coast in 1998 to pursue a Steiner education for her daughters.
  • Her initial training was with Traditional Medicinal in Lismore, a huge dispensary where she received  valuablel experience in over the counter prescribing.
  • In 1999 she bought the small dispensary within the Bangalow Pharmacy and named her business ’Bangalow Naturopathics’.  Working in the pharmacy gave her credibility and  she gained the support of the bangalow community , medical profession and pharmacy.
  •  In 2001 she  formed a business partnership in order to expand  the business further and moved into Bangalow  House, a move which allowed her a private clinic space in addition to the dispensary
  • Over the last 10 years Sue has continued teaching. As well as tutoring HSC students in English she has continued to teach primary & high school children how to improve their reading and writing skills.
  • She has run many courses and workshops in the region. She is perhaps best known for her passion for iridology and the yearly courses she runs in iridology for the students of Naturopathy at Southern Cross University.
  • Sue has also been employed by SCU over the last two years as a clinic supervisor for naturopathy students in clinical practise in their final year.
  • Sue has also run other significant workshops in the region. The menopausal workshop was a joint venture in combination with a variety of modalities including a medical practioner, councellor, physiotherapist and another naturopath.
  •  Sue has taken part in a number of low GI workshops and weight loss programmes in Bangalow in conjunction with the Bangalow Cooking school.
  • She was a regular guest on Bay FM  radio in 2007-8
  • Has organised stalls on nutrition at the Cancer Relay for Life Bangalow
  • Lectured on ‘stress management in retirement’in Ballina.
  • Has been  a  regular contributer  to the  ‘Bangalow Heartbeat’  writing monthly articles on health issues
  • She also runs a successful private clinic where she is able to conduct  a more extensive  health appraisal,  offering  iridology, live blood analysis and other testing to diagnose the causal level of disease.
  • In 2011 Sue  regained sole ownership of the business and renamed it ‘the bangalow naturopath’ She  is now in the process of consolidating the three aspects  of her business  making her dispensary a place to also run  the clinic, courses and workshops from.
